Fort Bloodshed Economic System

Land is laid out in two arcs. There is a Northern arc from the Mountains to the west to the distant plains to the east. This arc includes the ranch lands.

The Southern Arc stretches from the Leadtailing Gully to the west to the edge of the Cheyenne lands to the east.

Since at this time we don't have any PC farms, I've decided as of September 27, 2004 to change how they work.

Rolls

Mining

A failed roll means nothing is made from it, the claim is worthless now

A very easy success means the month yielded 1/8th the max dollar amount

An easy success means the month yielded 1/4th the max dollar amount

A moderate success means the month yielded 1/2 the max dollar amount

A difficult success means the month yielded 3/4th the max dollar amount

A very difficult success means the month yielded the max dollar amount

A heroic success means the month yielded 2 times the max dollar amount.

Ranching

A failed roll means the period was a total wash. Nothing is made from it.

A very easy success means the period yielded 1/8th the max dollar amount

An easy success means the period yielded 1/4th the max dollar amount

A moderate success means the period yielded 1/2 the max dollar amount

A difficult success means the period yielded 3/4th the max dollar amount

A very difficult success means the period yielded the max dollar amount

A heroic success means the period yielded 1 and 1/4th the max dollar amount.

Farming

A failed roll means the quarter was a total wash. Nothing is made from it.

A very easy success means the quarter yielded 1/8th the max dollar amount

An easy success means the quarter yielded 1/4th the max dollar amount

A moderate success means the quarter yielded 1/2 the max dollar amount

A difficult success means the quarter yielded 3/4th the max dollar amount

A very difficult success means the quarter yielded the max dollar amount

A heroic success means the quarter yielded 1 and 1/2th the max dollar amount.

The rolls are per quarter or per section, to make sure that one bad roll doesn't foul everything up for a player. If a player has a large amount of land, the Staff can decide if the player is rolling per quarter or section or forty.

Land Prices

Farmlands Southwest – Good farmland

This is farmland on the edge of the mining area, there are trees here and acess to the gully and streams, but the miners might be upset about encrochement.

Mining

For each claim (a small area) based on the mining role – determines what a miner can make per month 10-250 dollars per month per claim, depending on the roll – this is from placer mining (i.e. mining for nuggets or ore sand) – a claim can last 6 months. The price of a claim starts at 5 dollars, track of the claims will be on a web page and there will be a grid.

Buying a sluice – and spending 10 dollars a week per NPC or PC miner will allow the miner to dig mine longer than 6 months, but a sluice is 250 dollars and will move you up a notch in the Lifestyle category. Sluice mining will let you make 20-500 dollars a month depending on your mining skill. A sluice can only be used if 5 claims are owned together, and there is only one roll for the five claims.

However if a number of PCs start to make good mining rolls in the same period, the money they make will be cut in half to simulate a "Rush".

Shaft mining

A shaft will cost 200 dollars for every 100 feet. For each 100 feet of mine you can roll for 40-400 dollars a month. However for each 100 feet of mine – there is a 10 percent chance of a cave-in each month, unless a mining engineer (sapper) is hired. If a sapper is on the payroll, the chance is 5 percent a month. If a mine collapses, there is NO roll for that month. One shaft is allowed every 5 claims. Claims next to the shaft can be placer mined, but not sluice mined.

Ranching

There are four types of land for ranching

1 . Grade A Ranchland – Allows 100 head of cattle per quarter

2.         Prime  ranch land – Allows 50 head of cattle per quarter

3.         Good  ranch land – Allows 20 head of cattle per quarter

4.         Poor  ranch land – Allows 12 head of cattle per quarter

Ranching rolls are allowed twice a year – May 1st and November 1st For each head of cattle – You will get between 5 and 75 dollars – based on your skill roll. Water and feed are not needed to deal with. In the spring a ranching check will be required to determine the amount of winter kill. 0-25 % of the livestock can be lost depending on the roll.

Farming

There are three types of land for farming

1.  Prime  farm land

2.  Good  farm land

3.  Poor  farm land

Farming rolls are allowed three times a year – May 1st, August 1st and November 1st.

Crops

Spring Wheat (Winter wheat hasn't arrived in the US yet), Corn, Sorghum, Barley and Hemp.

Wheat costs 20 dollars a quarter to seed

Corn costs 25 dollars a quarter to seed

Sorghum costs 20 dollars a quarter to seed

Barley costs 30 dollars a quarter to seed

Hemp costs 15 dollars a quarter to seed

Hops costs 100 dollars a quarter to seed

Wheat allows 1 farming roll a year – August 1st

Corn allows 1 farming roll a year – November 1st

Sorghum allows 2 farming rolls a year – August 1st and November 1st

Barley allows 1 farming roll a year – August 1st

Hemp allows 3 farming rolls a year – May 1st, August 1st and November 1st

Hops allows 1 farming roll a year – August 1st

Wheat will yield – 100-400 dollars a quarter

Corn will yield – 200-800 dollars a quarter

Sorghum will yield – 50-150 dollars a quarter

Barley will yield – 150-600 dollars a quarter

Hemp will yield – 25-150 dollars a quarter

Hops will yield 50-1000 dollars a quarter

Yields

Poor Farmland will cut the dollar amount of the roll in half

Good farmland will cut the dollar amount of the roll to 3/4

Prime farmland will not cut the dollar amount of the roll

Farm Notes

Hemp will grow anywhere without a modifier

Hops will only grow in Prime Farmland or Good Farmland. Hops grown in Good Farmland will have its yield cut in half.

You can't smoke Hemp and you can't grow Weed here. Besides, 1860s Marajiuana has low THC so you'll just get a headache from smoking it, stick to Opium.

Yes farming is low yield when it comes to income, that's because farming will never get one rich quick and Wyoming without irrigation isn't good farm land, even with modern systems and techniques.

Workers

To farm, a player needs equipment which will cost 5 dollars a quarter to repair for each planing and harvest. Workers are also needed. 1 Foreman is required for each 4 quarters. A Foreman is paid 10 dollars a month, each month the crops are planted - or 30 dollars a growing period. Each quarter also requires one laborer who is paid 10 dollars for the planting and harvest.

Farming Example

Bob has a quarter of Wheat on Good Farmland and a 5 in farming.

Bob rolled a 15 on his Farming check. Moderate Success!

A moderate roll means he gets 1/2 the max dollar amount – 200 dollars in this case.

Since it's only good farmland, then it's down to 150 dollars.

Business Owning and Operating

A "Store" will skill check once a month and that reflects business between players/NPCs and the store manager. Other monies gained through RP, are just that, gained through RP and do not reflect on the bottom line for the month.

There are three categories of locations within Lago.

Upper, Main and Lower. These parallel the farm and ranch types of Prime, Good and Poor.

A store on an Upper street will give a full dollar amount based on the roll.

A store on the Middle Street will cut the dollar amount of the roll to 3/4.

A store on Lower will cut the dollar amount of the roll in half.

A store on Main Street will add 25% to the total

A store on Second will not add to the total

A store on Third will subtract 15% from the total

A store on other streets will subtrack 25% from the total

Note – Reed Road counts as Main Street while Donner Road coulds as Third for businesses

Typically a business will earn up to 250 dollars per month per location, depending on the roll and location. Rolls in the winter will yield 1/2 of the max and Rolls in July and August will yield 1.25 of the max, to reflect increased and decreased business during different seasons.

A failed roll means the month was a total wash. Nothing is made from it.

A heroic success means the month yielded 1 and 1/4th the max dollar amount.

A business that involves natural resources is guided by the same rules as a mine.

Indians

The Indians do the same thing, except for them they are hunting and if they fail, people die or drift off to other tribes.
